“Working beyond the status quo – DEI at the workplace” by Susanne Kirndorfer, Head of D&EI at Thoughtworks

Thoughtworks is a leading global technology consultancy that is not just closely associated with the movement for agile software development but also because of their strong focus on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI). Diversity and inclusion have become buzzwords, especially in the tech industry over the past years, but what do they mean? How can we shape a diverse and inclusive environment at our workplace? And how does it feel to work in a diverse environment? The presentation will focus on sharing experiences and learnings from building more inclusive workplaces in the IT industry.

About Susanne Kirndorfer

Susanne Kirndorfer used to work in applied linguistic research and language teaching at universities in Germany and abroad. After some years she decided to try new things to give her career a new meaning and moved into operational roles in the IT-Industry. Today she works as Head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for Thoughtworks Germany.

“5 ways to level up your accessibility game” by Andreas Klumpp, Software Developer at Thoughtworks

Over 90% of the world’s top one million websites aren’t fully accessible, which directly and indirectly impacts up to 1 billion people with disabilities across the world. It is not only our social responsibility to build accessible software, but caring about accessibility also results in business value. With a fundamental understanding around accessibility, you can incorporate accessibility into your personal sensible defaults and develop accessible products with very little additional effort.

About Andreas Klumpp

Andreas is a full stack software developer and consultant at Thoughtworks with a focus on frontend development. He is passionate about building inclusive and accessible software and excited to bring this perspective into agile delivery teams.
